Zinc Oxide LLC has received 9001:2008 certification for the quality management system in place at their plant in Dickson, TN. The certification was awarded following a facility audit by ABS Quality Evaluations, an internationally recognized certification auditing agency.
The Zinc Oxide LLC facility was found to be in conformance with the requirements set forth by the International Standards Organization (ISO), the largest independent organization that develops a variety of standards for business and industry. ISO 9001:2008 specifies requirements for a quality management system. According to the ISO, the standard “helps ensure that customers get consistent, good quality products and services, which in turn brings many business benefits.”
Completing ISO certification is another milestone for the company. It required a highly structured evaluation of procedures and measures to assure quality and compliance with the ISO requirements. The 170,000 square foot plant is the newest zinc oxide plant in North America, with two highly-efficient muffle furnaces.
Zinc oxide is produced from special high grade zinc metal or from recycled zinc. A third furnace is to be added soon. The plant also has a 67,000 square foot warehouse, capable of holding 3,000 tons of finished goods inventory. While the quality of the company’s end product is paramount, it has also taken great measures to always meet customer delivery requirements. To ensure uninterrupted plant operation, a 1,500 KW generator and 30,000 gallon propane system have been installed.
